AWS occupies the compute-and-infrastructure layer beneath the current AI build-out — cloud compute, storage, and databases already running enterprise workloads, with Bedrock the managed runtime extending that into hosting and scaling production AI agents, and newer surfaces, AWS Context and Amazon Quick, pushing further into orchestration and assistant layers. Bedrock is the runtime AWS has built out to host and scale production agents, now also serving as a distribution channel for third-party frontier models with agentic tool-calling. On top of that, AWS has shipped AWS Context, a newer orchestration layer wrapping models with the loop that improves them, and an AWS Security Agent — an agentic harness running Bedrock models alongside open-source security tools for multi-step pen testing and scanning.
